Equipment

  • 1 Deep Fryer or Heavy Skillet If a deep fryer is not available, a heavy skillet with enough oil can also achieve excellent results.
  • 1 Medium Saucepan

Ingredients

Chicken Tenders

  • 1.5 pounds chicken breast tenders
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Béchamel Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and white pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken: Season chicken tenders with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat with Panko breadcrumbs.
  • Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 375°F (190°C). Perfecting this sauce has the potential to transform your meal from ordinary to extraordinary. Drain on paper towels.
  • Make the Béchamel Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until the sauce thickens. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  • Serve: Arrange chicken tenders on a plate, drizzle with Béchamel sauce, or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Crispy Chicken Tenders with Béchamel Sauce
Feel free to add herbs like parsley or tarragon to the Béchamel sauce for an extra flavor boost. For those preferring a crunchier texture, double-frying the chicken tenders can provide that additional crispiness.
